Cory Moore is a fighter. He's resident of the South Bronx, and a local kid from Mott Haven. Growing up in public housing, he transcended a childhood of poverty. He attended local Bronx public schools. His father worked menial jobs, and his mother is a housekeeper. When Cory was still a child, his father was arrested, forcing his mother to work long hours to support his three siblings and grandmother. Yet, Cory beat his adverse circumstances. After graduating from a selective business-oriented high school in Manhattan, he started his college career at Baruch College, initially majoring in entrepreneurship.
While considering a few different life paths, Cory decided to go into politics last year. He asks himself, "what's the cause of all these problems? People have such a distaste towards government." All problems with government boil down to one problem: money. Out of anger towards the corrupt politicians in New York State, Cory decided to challenge Assemblywoman Carmen Arroyo in the 2018 Democratic Primary.
Carmen Arroyo is the most corrupt politician in New York State. When she was challenged in a primary, she did campaigning at a polling place, which is a violation of federal election law. Cory is running to take her down.
Cory's priorities are about making the South Bronx a better place to live, and ending the corruption rampant in our state's government. Workers' rights is the biggest part of his platform. One of his priorities is for fighting for better education; Cory believes all public college education should be free - tuition is a huge burden on working class families. He served as a tutor for elementary school students during his summers. As your assemblyman, he will stand up to represent the community against the injustice of big money.
It's important to note that the South Bronx has always stayed strong. You have always went above and beyond for others rights, now it's time we work together. Let's get to the polls on election days and send a message. Your children's education is on the ballot, as well as rent control, healthcare reform, and the environment. Cory wants to help inspire a generation of hardworking citizens to have the law on their side.
